It is indeed expensive... I agree with you. However, its results cannot be ignored... If we pay a high price to buy a product that benefits our health, I believe it is worth it...

We are using this product for pregnant women to take calcium tablets. I think the results are good. Now my family, under my recommendation, is also using it. I think the results are good. The price will definitely be relatively high, but we can still bear it.

What is the best calcium supplement? Calcium is the most abundant and important mineral in the human body, accounting for 1.5-2% of body weight, of which 99% is fixed in bone calcium reservoirs, and 1% is freely present in soft tissues, blood, and extracellular fluids. There is a self-stabilizing system between the bone calcium reservoir and blood calcium that maintains dynamic balance. This is regulated by estrogen, testosterone, parathyroid hormone, calcitonin, vitamin D3, etc. When there is insufficient calcium, the regulatory function releases calcium from the bones to maintain normal blood calcium concentration and overall physiological functions.

The Chinese Nutrition Society has stipulated the daily recommended calcium intake: 800-1200mg for children, 1000-1200mg for teenagers, 800mg for adults and the elderly, and 1500mg for pregnant and breastfeeding women. According to data from the Ministry of Health, the average calcium intake is only about 50% of the standard amount, especially among primary and secondary school students and people over 50 years old, where calcium intake is generally insufficient.

Calcium malnutrition is a global health issue. Nowadays, awareness and knowledge about calcium deficiency and supplementation have increased, but how do we choose among the numerous calcium products, health supplements, and medications available in the market?

Different calcium sources have different absorption methods in the body, and their efficacy varies greatly. Generally, when choosing, we need to consider: the calcium content of the product, solubility, absorption efficiency, toxicity side effects, scientific formulation value, and cost-effectiveness.

Inorganic acid calcium salts: such as calcium carbonate made from shells and eggshells, containing 40% calcium, poor solubility affects absorption rate; active calcium after high-temperature calcination, strong alkalinity, irritates the gastrointestinal tract; hydroxyapatite or phosphated calcium phosphate made from fresh animal bones, moderate calcium content. For these types of calcium supplements, there may not be enough stomach acid to fully ionize them, so the absorption rate is only around 30%. In addition, these materials may contain heavy metal contamination, which is detrimental to health.

Organic acid calcium salts such as calcium lactate, calcium gluconate, and calcium citrate, generally have low calcium content, intestinal absorption rate of 20%-40%.

The absorption mechanism of the above calcium supplements is an active absorption process where ionized calcium becomes calcium-binding protein, affected by factors such as stomach acid, calcium-binding protein's ability to transport calcium, and vitamin D, and it is a saturated absorption process.

Chelated calcium is the latest generation of calcium supplementation and bone nourishment products. The calcium ions in it exist in chelated form. The chelating agent acts as a carrier for calcium, making the absorption rate and effective utilization rate reach unprecedented levels.

In addition to reasonably choosing calcium supplements for pregnant women taking calcium tablets, getting more sun exposure, balanced nutrition, scientific cooking, etc., are also very important. Many foods can provide calcium supplementation. Here are some calcium-rich foods introduced.

Milk and dairy products: cow milk, goat milk, powdered milk, cheese, yogurt, condensed milk, ice cream. 500ml of fresh milk can supplement 600mg of calcium.

Fish, shrimp, crab, and seafood: crucian carp, carp, silver carp, loach, shrimp, dried shrimp, shrimp skin, crabs, kelp, purple laver, clams, sea cucumbers, snails, etc.

Meat and poultry eggs: mutton, pig brain, chicken meat, chicken eggs, duck eggs, quail eggs, century eggs, pork floss, etc.

Beans and bean products: soybeans, edamame, broad beans, cowpeas, tofu, dried tofu (100g of dried tofu can supplement 200mg of calcium), tofu skin, fermented tofu, etc.

Vegetables and fruits: celery, rape, carrots, radish leaves, sesame seeds, coriander, pickled mustard greens, black fungus, mushrooms, etc.

Fruits and dried fruits: lemons, loquats, apples, black jujubes, apricot preserves, mandarin orange cakes, peach preserves, haws, raisins, walnuts, watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds, mulberry dry, peanuts, lotus seeds, water chestnuts, etc.

Food preservation and storage can reduce calcium loss. When heating milk, don't stir. When cooking vegetables, add more water. Cut vegetables not too finely, and cook them quickly. Spinach, water bamboo shoots, and leeks all contain a lot of oxalic acid, which should be soaked in hot water first to dissolve the oxalic acid to avoid combining with calcium-rich foods to form insoluble calcium oxalate. Canned food juices are rich in minerals. Lactose can retain much dietary calcium. Millet, buckwheat, oats, corn, and other coarse grains contain more calcium than rice and flour, and usually, one should eat some coarse grains appropriately.

How much calcium is contained in the human body? Calcium is the highest content mineral element in the human body. It accounts for 1.5-2% of normal body weight, approximately 1200 grams. Of this, 99% exists in the bones, teeth, and nails of the human body. The remaining 1% exists in various soft tissues, and in the plasma, the total amount of calcium is only 300-350 milligrams.

Calcium in the human body is not stationary. Calcium exchange is constantly occurring between the structures of the human body at any time, and the calcium level in the human body always remains in a state of dynamic balance.
