Thailand is famous for its delicious food, fragrant rice, and ladyboys, but not so much for its weight loss pills. However, many consumers blindly trust these unfamiliar foreign weight loss products. The so-called "famous star-loved weight loss pills" from Thailand are very popular, and many women who want to lose weight rush to order them. However, these pills are not available in regular pharmacies or hospitals, and customers can only buy them online. According to merchants, these pills are original imports from Thailand and are quite expensive. But is this sales method legal? What ingredients do these weight loss pills contain, and are they safe to consume? How effective are they? Many consumers have serious concerns about this. In response, the Slimming Beauty reporter conducted a detailed investigation.
Not long ago, netizen Wang found that these pills were being sold on Taobao. However, when searching for "Thai weight loss pills" on the Taobao page, no results came up; one could only purchase through introductions from acquaintances. After receiving the pills, Wang saw that the weight loss pills bought for over 2000 yuan were simply packaged in small transparent bags without any labels. These yellow, green, and white tablets had some Thai writing, making it impossible to see their ingredients. The Slimming Beauty reporter discovered that this product, called "the strongest Thai slimming product in history," was priced at 2200 yuan. Online stores require customers to provide height, weight, and age, after which they obtain the medication from a hospital in Thailand called Yanhee. A course of treatment costs 3980 yuan. Merchants claim that many celebrities take these Thai weight loss pills, which are prescription drugs. The various tablets purportedly suppress appetite, clear toxins from the body, and reduce calories, allowing people to lose weight unconsciously. Within 56 days, one can lose 45 to 60 kilograms with no side effects. However, the store refused to disclose the drug's composition, citing confidentiality of the formula.
Regarding the claimed weight loss effects of this drug, weight loss expert Professor Xu introduced that losing weight too quickly should be avoided, and medications should be used with great caution. Violating natural laws when losing weight often leads to hormonal imbalances and even more severe consequences for many patients.
The Slimming Beauty reporter found in the online store's sales records that although this slimming medicine is expensive, over a hundred items were sold in just one month. In the feedback section, many consumers reported experiencing dizziness, low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, palpitations, dry mouth, and other symptoms after taking the medication. The store responded that this was due to the drug accelerating metabolism, advising consumers not to worry. The reporter then interviewed relevant officials from the Food and Drug Administration. The official explained that first, whether this product is a drug needs to be defined. In our country, only those with the "National Medicine Approval Number" are considered drugs. There are strict regulations: foreign drugs entering China must undergo re-examination by the National Food and Drug Administration and obtain an import drug approval number before they can be traded on the market. Furthermore, enterprises engaged in internet drug transactions must pass review and inspection and obtain an Internet Drug Transaction Service Institution Qualification Certificate. However, this Taobao online store and website do not possess the necessary qualifications.
