Experts in the Department of Urology at Beijing Military Region General Hospital introduced that when quite a lot of prostatitis patients went to urology hospitals for treatment, they were scared of the word "inflammation". In fact, prostatitis was not terrible. What's terrible was seeing quacks and taking wrong medicine. They thought as long as there was an infection or inflammation, antibiotics should be used. But little did they know that for the "inflammation" of chronic prostatitis, the effect of simple antibiotic treatment was not necessarily good. Chronic prostatitis was relatively difficult to treat. Accurate diagnosis was needed to find out the pathogen. Then according to different conditions, constitutions and causes, targeted comprehensive treatment could completely cure it without recurrence.

Under normal circumstances, patients with chronic bacterial prostatitis usually had a history of acute prostatitis and urinary tract infections. However, because many antibiotics reached limited concentration in the prostate through blood circulation, they often failed to work. As for chronic non-bacterial prostatitis, as the name implies, it had symptoms of chronic prostatitis, but no pathogenic bacteria could be found. Therefore, antibiotics were generally not used for treatment. To sum up, for chronic prostatitis, "non-bacterial" ones didn't need antibiotic treatment and "bacterial" ones had not obvious effects after using antibiotics. So antibiotics must be used with caution.

The treatment goal of chronic prostatitis was mainly to relieve pain, improve urination symptoms and improve quality of life. The degree of symptom relief was the main criterion for evaluating the efficacy of chronic prostatitis. With the development of medical technology, the best clinical efficacy for this disease currently was achieved by using pelvic floor biofeedback therapy combined with physical treatments such as biological rhythm therapy.
