Senile vaginitis, also known as atrophic vaginitis, is a type of non-specific vaginitis. It commonly occurs in women after menopause, but can also appear in women who have had both ovaries removed or during the breastfeeding period.

Clinical Manifestations

The main symptoms include increased vaginal discharge, which appears yellow and watery or purulent with an odor. In cases of severe infection, there may be spotting or vaginal bleeding along with a feeling of heaviness and a burning sensation in the vagina. If the condition affects the vestibule and the mucosa around the urethral opening, it often leads to frequent urination and painful urination.
