According to a survey by the Chinese Medical Association, 76% of white-collar workers in major cities are sub-healthy, and nearly 60% are in an overworked state. The proportion of truly healthy people is less than 3%. Among high-income people aged 35-50, the trend of "biological age" exceeding the actual age has significantly accelerated, with an average of about 10 years older than their "calendar age". This is why so-called "rich diseases" invade middle-aged white-collar workers. What are these "rich diseases"? Hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, obesity, prostate diseases, etc., are all classified as rich diseases.
According to surveys, buying a house, parents' health, marriage, and children's education have become the four major sources of stress for white-collar workers. 46% of respondents indicated that buying a house is their top pressure source. The issue of parents' health becomes the second biggest source of stress at 38%, especially for those "empty-nest parents" left behind in rural areas who lack care, which pains many "migrant white-collar workers." Moreover, the larger the city, the greater the pressure. Lifestyle surveys show that nearly 80% of white-collar workers have irregular eating and sleeping patterns and often feel tired. 23.7% of surveyed white-collar workers said they "casually deal with breakfast and skip it if they wake up late"; 20.7% frequently eat fast food outside and cannot ensure normal intake of vegetables and fruits; 54.4% feel they haven't slept enough every day, and another 32.4% have poor sleep quality; 46% occasionally exercise once.
In fact, what we refer to as aging means the decline in physical function and mental health. These changes mostly occur quietly within the body and may not be visible externally. Surveys also indicate that there are two main reasons for white-collar workers' premature aging: one is metabolic abnormalities, closely related to the improvement in living standards. These "rich diseases" rarely come alone; if not intervened in time, they will develop into diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, becoming the hidden black hand behind "elite sudden death" incidents. The other reason includes chronic fatigue, insomnia, psychological disorders, etc. The formation of these diseases, apart from factors such as job stress and frequent overtime, also includes prolonged internet use, too many social engagements, unscientific diets, irregular work-rest schedules, lack of physical exercise, disharmony in family life, and mental suppression, among others.
