Prostate disease is known as the affliction of the male lower abdomen. The word "prostate" comes from Greek, meaning the gland in front of the bladder. You can imagine there being a small water sac in your abdomen - that's the bladder. We can compare the prostate to a faucet. The urethra opens at the bottom of the bladder, conveying urine through the urethra until it is excreted outside the body. Just below the bladder, tightly surrounding the urethra, there is a walnut-shaped gland, and this is the prostate.
The main function of the prostate is to add mucus to sperm produced by the testicles and expel them during ejaculation. Although the prostate is unique to males and its function is merely to help sperm meet the egg for fertilization, if such a small gland malfunctions, it will cause indescribable pain to men.
Because the prostate precisely surrounds the urethra, its condition may very likely block the passage of urine flowing out from the bladder. When the prostate squeezes down on the urethra or grows upward pushing against the bladder, or both occur simultaneously, the patient will experience difficulty urinating. There may also be sexual dysfunction. The patient may want to urinate quickly but has to painfully wait for a long time to urinate, often only able to urinate in drops while enduring an indescribable pain, with the possibility of urinary tract infections. Due to having to use the restroom five or six times every night, the patient will feel very fatigued throughout the day.
Who is prone to prostate diseases? According to medical research, the occurrence of male prostate diseases is mostly related to work and living habits, such as staying up late, driving, sitting for long periods, etc. Therefore, young students, drivers, entrepreneurs, middle-aged and elderly people, civil servants, teachers, etc., are all high-risk groups for prostate diseases. These groups, they all have one or more factors that induce prostate diseases: abnormal sexual life, such as overly frequent sexual activity, interrupted intercourse, or excessive masturbation, which can cause abnormal congestion of the prostate; but excessive abstinence can also produce prolonged automatic excitement, leading to passive congestion, directly pressing on the perineum, riding bicycles, riding horses, driving, sitting for long periods, etc., can all cause prostate congestion, especially riding bicycles; excessive drinking can make reproductive organs congested and cause sexual excitement; too heavy massage, improper or overly frequent prostate massage can also cause prostate congestion. Many of these behaviors are unavoidable in modern daily life for male friends, but they do not realize that their reproductive health risks come from these.
