Before and after the Spring Festival, relatives and friends begin to organize rounds of dinners, usually choosing evening times. In fact, dinners should be scheduled at noon if possible. This is because even if you eat a little more than usual during gatherings, the afternoon will provide enough time for digestion without causing any significant issues.

It's advisable to remind friends that lunchtime gatherings are preferable. If dinner gatherings are unavoidable, it’s best to schedule them earlier, preferably around 5-6 PM, and try to conclude within two hours. After the meal, you can drink some yogurt or do some light exercises. It's also important not to sleep within two hours after eating.

You should choose light, hydrating, and easily digestible foods to avoid overburdening the gastrointestinal tract at night. First, ensure a balance of meat and vegetables, with the quantity of meat not exceeding half a serving per person, and the quantity of vegetables being no less than one serving per person. If you feel it’s not lavish enough, you can add some semi-meat dishes, but pure vegetable dishes should ideally account for about one-third. You can order a plate of green vegetables, red vegetables, edible fungi, as well as some root vegetables and tofu.

For meat dishes, it is recommended to choose seafood such as fish and shrimp, or white meat with relatively low fat content. Additionally, although beef is red meat, its fat content is lower compared to pork, so it can be selected. At the dining table, remind yourself to take only one bite of each meat dish, and not more than three bites. In terms of quantity, there should be an average of one dish per person. For about four people, it is suggested to order one cold dish and three hot dishes; for around ten people, it is suggested to order 3-4 cold dishes and 6-7 hot dishes.

Before the meal, you might want to have a small bowl of rice or a small bowl of porridge. This not only reduces protein waste but also alleviates the problem of greasy food harming the stomach. Avoid using high-fat fried rice, pancakes, or fried snacks as substitutes for rice. The most suitable alcohol choice is red wine, but remember to drink in moderation.
