Recently, some people have been suffering from insomnia frequently and cannot find the reason. I think it might be related to the sleeping environment. A reasonable furniture scale is crucial for people's lives. If not properly controlled, it will bring a lot of inconvenience to users and even affect their health. The scale, shape, and layout in furniture design should conform to the physiological and psychological scales of the human body and the activity rules of each part of the human body, so as to achieve the purposes of safety, practicality, convenience, comfort, and beauty.

Today, let's start with the height of the bed.

Generally speaking, the height of the bed edge should be about 45 cm, or based on the user's knee height. A height equal to or slightly higher (1~2 cm) would be beneficial to health. Too high or too low will only cause inconvenience when getting on and off the bed. Too high makes it inconvenient to get on and off, while too low is prone to dampness, making it easy to inhale dust from the ground during sleep, increasing the workload on the lungs.

The healthy height of the bed can also be calculated by the distance between the mattress surface and the ground. The standard is 46~50 cm. This is because the healthy height of a seat is 40 cm. When sitting on the bed, the mattress height at 46 cm compresses to approximately 40 cm.

In addition, the height of the pillow directly affects sleep. Generally, the pillow height for adults should be 15 cm, slightly lower for the elderly and children, and around 6 cm for infants. This helps ensure normal blood supply to the brain, relax neck muscles, and maintain smooth breathing in the lungs.

Simply put: an adult's bed should be slightly higher than the knees for easy access; for seniors, the bed should be slightly lower than the knees to facilitate getting on and off and avoid injury.

That’s all for today about beds. In the future, I will gradually introduce the correct placement of other furniture. I hope you continue to follow.
