There is a Chinese saying, "No beating, no talent," which refers to the role of corporal punishment in the process of a child's growth. Some parents believe that when children are young and don't know better, only by being spanked or beaten with a stick can they learn some lessons.
Corporal punishment can cause psychological deviations in children.
When parents beat their children, it is often out of impulse, but it can lead to serious consequences that cannot be reversed - causing children to develop negative mindsets and psychological deviations. Children who are frequently beaten may develop some of these negative mindsets and psychological deviations.
Recently, American researchers have discovered that spanking or other forms of corporal punishment may hinder the development of a child's IQ. After four years of tracking 1,510 children aged 2 to 9, American experts on punishment and domestic violence found that among 806 children aged 2 to 4, those who were not subjected to corporal punishment had an average IQ score 5 points higher than those who were frequently beaten. In another group of 704 children aged 5 to 9, this gap was 28 points. As a result, researchers recommend that under no circumstances should children be beaten.
In fact, for relatively mild forms of corporal punishment such as regular spanking, while it may not directly cause muscle or limb damage, the sensation of pain will stimulate the brain through the transmission of the nervous system. At the same time, it could also affect the child's kidneys and height.
