Recently, I have heard many friends say that they often suffer from insomnia, irritability, and mental confusion. From this, I judge that it is all due to social pressure. Data from the "2009 White Paper on the Health Status of Urban White-Collar Workers in China" shows that currently, the proportion of sub-healthy white-collar workers in mainstream cities in our country has reached as high as 76%, and nearly six out of ten white-collar workers are in a state of overwork. Buying a house, parents' health, marriage, and children's education have become the four major sources of stress for white-collar workers.

This survey was jointly conducted by the Professional Committee of Medical Technology Management Application of the Chinese Hospital Association and the Citim Health Check-up Group, and it is also the largest "urban health status survey" ever conducted in China.

According to the introduction, this survey covers 31 provinces and municipalities, 589 cities, and collected 5.13 million valid survey questionnaires from all over the country. The results of the survey on the sources of stress showed that buying a house became the top source of stress for 46% of the surveyed individuals, making it the number one source of stress. Parents' health issues then became the second largest source of stress for white-collar workers, reaching 38%. The problem of "empty-nest parents" left behind in their hometowns with no one to take care of them has become the main source of stress for "immigrant white-collar workers". And the issue of "leftover men and leftover women" has become one of the reasons for the unhappiness of unmarried white-collar workers. Moreover, the larger the city, the greater the pressure, and "immigrant white-collar workers" worry most about the health of "empty-nest parents".

In addition, regarding the question of the "top three psychological states of white-collar workers", negative emotions were particularly prominent. The largest number of people chose fatigue, monotony, and irritability, accounting for 49%, 46%, and 38% respectively, while only less than one-tenth of white-collar workers chose satisfaction.

The survey results showed that the proportion of sub-healthy white-collar workers in mainstream cities reached 76%, and nearly six out of ten were in a state of overwork. The true proportion of "healthy people" was extremely low (less than 3%). Among high-income people aged 35-50, the trend of "biological age" exceeding age has significantly accelerated, averaging around 10 years older than "calendar age". This means that middle-aged white-collar workers begin to show signs of aging 10 years earlier. Overwork phenomena are most common among senior executives of state-owned enterprises, private enterprise owners, news media, IT industries, etc. I hope everyone can maintain a positive attitude, learn to reduce pressure, participate more in outdoor activities and friend gatherings.
