Wuyi Dahongpao, belonging to the Oolong tea category, is a rare gem among China's famous teas and is known as the "Number One Tea." It is the king of Wuyi Rock Teas (one of the "Four Famous Bushes" including Dahongpao, Tielohán, Baijiguān, and Shuǐjīngūi), and is considered a national treasure. It gets its name because when the buds sprout in early spring, the whole tree looks bright red from afar, as if a red robe were draped over it.

The appearance of Dahongpao tea from Mount Wuyi features tightly twisted leaves with a fresh green-brown luster. After brewing, the tea liquor is bright orange-yellow, with red and green intermingling on the leaves, displaying an obvious "green leaves with red edges" beauty. The most prominent feature of Dahongpao quality lies in its rich fragrance, which is high and lasting. Its taste is mellow and full-bodied, leaving a lingering aroma after drinking, with an evident "rock韵 (Yan Yun)" character.
