Beijing sees joint流行 trend of seasonal flu and H1N1

On the 26th, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau announced at a press conference: Beijing has seen a joint流行 trend of seasonal flu and H1N1, with the latter being dominant. The situation in terms of prevention and control of H1N1 is not optimistic, thus leading to partial adjustment in Beijing's preventive measures.

Director of Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, Fang Laiying, said that on October 24th, sentinel sites for flu surveillance in Beijing reported over 4000 cases of flu-like illness per day, which was 3 to 4 times higher than the same period in previous years. Up to now, Beijing has reported 5851 confirmed cases of H1N1, indicating that there has been a joint流行 trend of seasonal flu and H1N1 in Beijing. Currently, among all confirmed H1N1 cases in Beijing, 62% are between 10 to 20 years old, which means that middle and primary schools are the key areas for prevention and control. The Beijing government will propose new measures for current H1N1 prevention and control.
