Introduction to Ultimate Three Kingdoms:
Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are high school students, but due to their excessive love for justice, they have been expelled from twenty-four schools and are known as "The Twenty-Four Schools." Just as the two feel desperate after being expelled again, a man with large earlobes suddenly appears. He introduces himself as Liu Bei, courtesy name Xuande, a fallen noble who often changes schools because he cannot afford the tuition fees. Liu Bei proposes a plan stating that with his noble bloodline, he can attend the best noble school in the country, the Donghan Academy, which is very expensive and only open to royal relatives. Zhang Fei, being wealthy, says he can pay the tuition for everyone. Liu Bei then suggests that if the money issue is resolved, everything else can be solved. He advises the three of them to swear brotherhood, making all of them royal relatives and thus eligible to enroll. The three find a beautiful and meaningful place to swear their allegiance. However, just as they finish their oath—"We do not seek to be born on the same day, month, or year, but we wish to die on the same day, month, and year"—Xiu, Wang Dadao, Ding Xiaoyu, and Wang Yase from the Jin Time Dimension accidentally appear through a time portal in the Yin Time Dimension. Due to Dadao's carelessness, a coin causes a chain reaction leading to a rock falling and striking Liu Bei dead! Guan Yu, bound by honor, wants to follow his elder brother and die on the same day, but Zhang Fei prevents him and knocks him unconscious. They soon discover Liu Bei is not dead but severely injured. After discussing with Dadao, Xiaoyu, and Yase, they decide to leave Xiu in the Yin Time Dimension as a double (since Xiu's counterpart in this dimension is Liu Bei), while an unwilling Xiu reluctantly agrees to maintain the order of time. Meanwhile, the other three take the seriously injured Liu Bei back to the Jin Time Dimension for treatment.
Upon waking up, Guan Yu finds out that the fake Liu Bei (Xiu) is alive and is overjoyed. Zhang Fei is also happy that they don't have to die together. Thus, the three finally arrive at Donghan Academy, where Guan Yu and Zhang Fei believe they can achieve great things.
The trio hopes to graduate from Donghan Academy and lead a normal life, but due to its fame, it attracts attacks from Huangjin College and Hedong College (where Dong Zhuo is the principal), putting Donghan Academy constantly in crisis. Master Zuo Ci even sets up the 'Eight Gates Golden Lock Array' at the school gate to prevent students from attending classes. Naturally, the three step forward to break the array, but it is not easily broken. Moreover, Liu Bei Xiu and Xiaoqiao are trapped inside, facing imminent danger. Following the Student Union President Cao Cao's advice, they recruit Ma Chao, a resilient and cheerful youth, and Huang Zhong, Ma Chao’s friend and an excellent archer, to help break the array. Additionally, Zhao Yun, who has always been at odds with them, joins the group. Together, the five manage to break the array and rescue Liu Bei Xiu and Xiaoqiao. During the process, Guan Yu saves Zhao Yun's life by shielding him with his arm during a critical moment, resolving the previous conflicts between them. From then on, Zhao Yun becomes brothers with the others, sharing the same loyalty and camaraderie, and together they break the Eight Gates Golden Lock Array.
After breaking the array and making new brothers, they thought they could smoothly complete high school. However, on one side, Huangjin College is eyeing Donghan Academy's resources greedily, and on the other side, Dong Zhuo, the principal of Hedong College, Cao Cao, the student union president of Donghan, and Yuan Shao, the leader of the Guandong School Alliance, all covet the throne of the Young Emperor of the entire school alliance.
