Cryptorchidism refers to the condition where, after a male infant is born, one or both testicles fail to descend into the scrotum and remain at any point along their normal path of descent. This means that there may be no testicles in the scrotum or only one testicle present. Research results show that the incidence of cryptorchidism is 1-7%, with unilateral cases being more common than bilateral cases, particularly on the right side. Among these cases, 25% of undescended testicles are located within the abdominal cavity, 70% remain in the inguinal region, and about 5% stay above the scrotum or in other locations.
