In response to the recent reports by foreign media that "due to New York's intended ban on selling food containing trans fat, American KFC fast food chain store will change its edible oil", KFC China headquarters issued an urgent statement yesterday. The KFC restaurants in China use unhydrogenated palm oil which does not contain trans fatty acids. All products of KFC China comply with various national safety standards. Trans fatty acids are generally produced after the hydrogenation technology is used on vegetable oils and have advantages such as heat resistance, anti-decay, and long storage time. They are usually used to make crispy bread, fried French fries, and doughnuts. However, some research results in the United States show that frequent consumption of foods high in artificial trans fats can easily increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
