For patients with plaque psoriasis, the skin lesions may occur in only one part of the body or spread all over. This is the most common type and usually also the mildest form. It manifests as red papules, erythema, or flat plaques of varying sizes, covered with silvery-white scales of different thicknesses that are easy to fall off. After scraping off the scales, a smooth red film can be seen. If the film is peeled off, some pinpoint bleeding points will appear. The red film and pinpoint bleeding are important features of plaque psoriasis. Silvery-white scales, the film phenomenon, and pinpoint bleeding are the three clinical characteristics of this disease. If psoriasis occurs on the scalp, the hair can cluster together in bundles, known as bundled hair. Pitting like "thimble" may appear on the surface of the fingernails (toenails), or become uneven and thickened. In severe cases, they may change color. Lesions are prone to occur on the scalp and extensor sides of the limbs, especially commonly seen on elbows and knees. The lesions may present as点滴状,斑块状,地图状rotary状, and few as belt-like. There is itching to varying degrees. The course of the disease can be divided into progressive stage, stationary stage, and remission stage.
