Gonorrhea is a purulent infection of the urinary and reproductive systems caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (also known as Gonococcus), and is characterized primarily by the discharge of purulent secretions. Gonorrhea is transmitted mainly through sexual intercourse, and is most commonly found in young and middle-aged adults. It is the most prevalent sexually transmitted disease in our country. Initially, it often affects the urethra, namely, urethritis due to gonorrhea. When the condition further spreads, the reproductive system and other organs of the body may also be damaged, causing chronic inflammation of the urogenital system, which leads to infertility. Clinically, gonorrhea is divided into two types: acute gonorrhea and chronic gonorrhea.
