(1) Causes of mastitis:

① Milk stasis: Poor development of the nipple, excessive secretion of milk or less sucking by the baby, and blocked mammary ducts can lead to milk accumulation in the breast. Milk is highly conducive to bacterial proliferation and is one of the causes of mastitis.

② Bacterial invasion: Wounds on the nipple make it easier for bacteria to invade and cause infection. A baby sleeping with the nipple in their mouth or a baby with stomatitis while sucking milk can also cause bacteria to invade the mammary ducts.

(2) Prevention of mastitis:

① Avoid milk stasis.

② Prevent nipple damage and seek timely treatment if damage occurs.

③ Do not let the child develop a habit of sleeping with the nipple in their mouth.
