Infantile eczema, also commonly known as milk rash, occurs because infants are more sensitive to certain substances such as dairy products, eggs, and fish or shrimp compared to normal babies. Sometimes, inhaling dust or pollen or eating tomatoes and oranges can also cause allergies. For breastfed children, if the mother consumes these allergy-prone foods, it may induce eczema in the infant through the breast milk. Within a few weeks of birth, papules, rashes, or vesicles may appear on the child's cheeks, forehead, eyebrows, and behind the ears, accompanied by exudate, which dries to form gray or yellow crusts. Due to intermittent itching, the child may become restless, and scratching or rubbing may lead to infection.
