Proper use of a rapid blood glucose meter

Instructions for Use:

1. Check if the glucometer is functioning properly, if the test strips are expired, and if the test strip code matches with the glucometer. Each box of test strips has a code that needs to be adjusted on the instrument before measurement.

2. Install the lancet in the lancing device and adjust the depth of the lancet according to the thickness of the skin.

3. Wash your hands with warm water or neutral soap, and repeatedly rub the finger that will be used for blood sampling until there is abundant blood flow.

4. Disinfect the fingertip with 75% alcohol and wait for it to dry. Turn on the glucometer switch. For glucometers that use capillary blood sampling, insert a test strip into the machine; for glucometers that use droplet blood sampling, take a test strip and hold it in your hand; do not touch the testing area of the test strip, and close the container tightly after taking out the test strip.

5. Place the lancing device against the fingertip, press the spring switch, and prick the fingertip. It's best to take blood from the sides of the fingers because they have abundant blood vessels and fewer nerve endings, which means less pain and sufficient bleeding, and won't affect the results due to insufficient blood volume. Do not over-squeeze, as it may cause the exudation of interstitial fluid to mix with the blood sample, leading to a lower glucose test value.
