Colored fabrics may fade, which is related to the nature of the dye and the dyeing technique. For example, most dyes tend to dissolve easily in water (especially in soapy water, hot water, and alkaline water). Under damp conditions, dyes are also prone to fading due to sunlight exposure. If the dye does not bind firmly with the fiber texture, fading can occur during washing.
To prevent fabric colors from fading, one should wash them frequently but gently; secondly, if using soapy or alkaline water for washing, some salt must be added to the water (a small spoon per bucket); thirdly, after washing, rinse thoroughly with clean water immediately to avoid prolonged soaking or residue of soap or alkali in the fabric; fourthly, avoid drying under direct sunlight, but instead dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
