New groups of people who are content with a "sexless life" have emerged around us. Sex sociologists believe that when there is no physical illness or accident involved, but couples have not had harmonious sex for over a month, it is considered a "sexless marriage." Professor Pan Suiming, director of the Institute of Sex Sociology at Renmin University of China, organized a sampling survey which found that among married or cohabiting men and women in China, 28.7% had not had sex even once in the past month, while 6.2% had not had sex even once in the past year.
