Li Yong, the top female anchor of Guangdong TV Station, was arrested when she was preparing to leave the country in Beijing for being involved in the corruption case of Chen Shaogi, former chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of Guangdong Province. Jiang Wendan, a famous Cantonese opera performer known as "beautiful female lead" and highly appreciated by Chen Shaogi, suddenly canceled her public performance in Hong Kong on April 30th. Due to the sensitive timing, the Cantonese opera circle in Hong Kong were all shocked and talking about it.
The "Graceful Melody - Jiang Wendan's Friends Cantonese Opera Concert" was originally scheduled to be held at 7:30 pm on April 30th at the New Light Theatre in North Point. However, sources from the Hong Kong Cantonese opera circle revealed that "Jiang Wendan had some issues and couldn't make it to Hong Kong". The New Light Theatre had already posted an announcement on April 20th: "Due to personal reasons of the main actor, they are unable to perform in Hong Kong as scheduled, and the organizing unit has decided to cancel the event."
