According to the China Youth Daily, overnight, the diploma obtained by Huang Zhongqiang from Dickinson State University in the United States seemed to become worthless. Recently, the educational regulatory body of North Dakota, where this American university is located, issued an internal review report. According to the report, Dickinson State University has become a "diploma mill" specifically designed for international students. In this "factory", 96% of the students come from China and the rest are from Russia.
It should be said that the rampant fake diplomas in China is no longer a novel issue. The American "diploma mill" targets the Chinese market because it recognizes the Chinese desire for a gilded education. Thus, the fact that "96% of the students come from China" is not surprising.
In addition to the Chinese demand for diplomas, I believe there are more reflective reasons. Let's look at the facts: the "diplomas" input into China by this American "diploma mill" have been officially recognized by the Ministry of Education. Such lenient recognition is regrettable; when the head of the American Dickinson State University came to China for a tour, many universities eagerly embraced and promoted cooperation between the two parties; Chinese students going abroad for study are mixed in quality, most do not meet the requirements, some do not even know basic English, etc.
It can be imagined that on one side, people are willing to spend money for the sake of gilding their qualifications; on the other side, they are willing to abandon principles for economic benefits. Together, they have formed the main force behind the American "diploma mill" in China.
