A "furniture discrimination" controversy has emerged in the Nordic countries of Denmark and Sweden. A Danish study points out that IKEA, a Swedish furniture manufacturer and retailer, deliberately belittles Denmark by using the names of Danish towns to label low-priced goods, such as doormats and carpets. The researchers believe that IKEA's practice highlights "Swedish imperialism," making Denmark seem like it's meant to be "trampled upon."
