Before getting to the point, let me tell you all an event that happened to me yesterday:
Yesterday (June 21) I worked overtime until nearly 11 o'clock at night before taking a taxi home. The taxi driver was very nice and we chatted happily along the way. I asked about the driver's income and how hard he works, and he also asked me about my work and income, etc.. When I told him that I work for a certain central ministry, and that my job mainly involves targeting foreign enterprises and protecting the interests of domestic enterprises, he was very surprised, envious, and admiring. Then, he suddenly asked me: So your income must be very high, right? You probably make 20,000 yuan if not 10,000 yuan a month, right? This question from the driver made me feel both like crying and laughing. Because I was almost home, I simply explained to him before opening the car door: My monthly salary is around 3,200 yuan, plus an 800 yuan housing allowance each month, and after deducting around 400 yuan for the rent of the single dormitory room at my workplace (two people per room, 200 yuan per person, but I live alone so I pay double), I end up with around 3,600 yuan a month. When I closed the car door, the expression on the driver's face seemed as if he had been deeply shocked by what I said: all he could do was gape in astonishment.
