The education research department proposes a draft to strengthen the assessment of students' English proficiency.

In order to enable international students to have a better level of English before enrollment and thus adapt to the teaching in Australia, the education department has recently proposed that colleges and precollege institutions as well as vocational education (TAFE) institutions should strengthen the assessment of students' English proficiency standards. Last year, some universities in Australia, especially business schools, had raised the English entrance standard for undergraduate and master's degree programs.
