Macquarie University, located in Sydney, although not one of the eight prestigious universities in Australia, is recognized as a leader in Australia for its accounting courses. Its most popular two-and-a-half-year Master of Professional Accounting (CPA Extension) is divided into two parts: the first year and a half is the regular master's degree in accounting, which is basically the same as the course settings of other schools, while the last year is dedicated to studying for and taking the Australian Certified Public Accountant Examination. Students must pass five out of six subjects in order to graduate and obtain their degree.
