Sichuan International Studies University (SISU for short) was initially established in April 1950. It has experienced five development periods, namely, the Russian Training Group of the Southwestern Military and Political University of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the Russian Group of the Second Advanced Infantry School of PLA, the Russian Department of the Southwestern People's Revolutionary University of China, the Southwest Advanced Russian Specialized School and Sichuan Foreign Languages Institute. The school name "Sichuan Foreign Languages Institute" written by Guo Moruo has been used till today. The school is located in Chongqing, the fourth municipality directly under the Central Government of China. It lies at the foot of Geleshan Mountain by Jialing River. Covering an area of more than 1000 mu, it has a quiet environment and beautiful scenery. It was entitled as a garden-style unit by the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality. It is also the only foreign language college in the southwest of China.
