The predecessor of Sichuan Agricultural University was the Sichuan Province-wide Agricultural College founded in 1906, which was the first agricultural academy in Sichuan. In 1931, it became the Sichuan Provincial Agriculture College, and in 1935 it merged into the National Sichuan University as the SCU Agriculture College. In 1956, the SCU Agriculture College moved to Ya'an and established independently as the Sichuan Agriculture College. In 1985, its name was changed to Sichuan Agricultural University. In 1996, SAU entered the national "211 Project" key construction universities. In the golden October of 2006, Sichuan Agricultural University celebrated its centennial anniversary.
