The Two Rivers - the Cradle of Ancient Human Civilization

The middle and lower reaches of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers are usually referred to as the Mesopotamian (Greek for "land between the rivers") Plain. This area was one of the important birthplaces of ancient human civilization, creating the world-renowned Two Rivers civilization. The Two Rivers civilization consists of three parts: the Sumerian civilization, the Babylonian civilization, and the Assyrian civilization. Among these, the Babylonian civilization stands out with its remarkable achievements and has become a paragon of the Two Rivers civilization. The ancient Babylonian Kingdom, along with ancient Egypt, ancient India, and China, forms what people refer to as the four great ancient civilizations of the world.
