Patriotic Education Activity Plan: July 7 - Let's Remember

The children of the post-80s and 90s generations have few who clearly know the specifics of the July 7th Incident (also known as the Marco Polo Bridge Incident). They may have only learned from textbooks or classrooms about how much suffering our country has endured. On July 7, we can let children learn about the revolutionary stories of the older generation of martyrs, and plan a very patriotic educational activity for them. For example: visiting old revolutionary areas, holding dances and singing events with the theme of red memories (to be honest, I still like the battlefield songs of the older generation, they are very inspiring). But will the children living in happiness today be willing to accept these patriotic education activities? I think not necessarily, after all, children's nature is to play. Therefore, our activity planning should start from the nature of children, and how to guide children's interests from ordinary playing into education is also a science.

Let's first understand what the July 7th Incident is, and review it again:

In 1937 - The Japanese troops stationed in China brazenly initiated the "July 7th Incident" (also known as the "Marco Polo Bridge Incident"), Japan began its full-scale invasion of China, and the Anti-Japanese War broke out. On the night of July 7, the Japanese troops stationed at the Lugou Bridge held so-called military exercises near the Chinese garrison without notifying the Chinese local authorities, and falsely claimed that a Japanese soldier was missing, demanding to enter the Wanping County (today's Lugouqiao Town) southwest of Beijing for search. The Chinese garrison refused this unreasonable request. The Japanese army then began attacking the Chinese garrison. The 219th Regiment of the 37th Division of the 29th Army of the Chinese garrison fought back fiercely and resisted tenaciously. As the war in North China expanded day by day, on August 13, 1937, the Japanese army launched an attack in Shanghai. The gunfire in Wanping County marked the beginning of the nationwide anti-Japanese resistance.

It can be said that the July 7th Incident was the first roar of the sleeping lion upon waking up. It is highly educational. The planning of patriotic education activities cannot be equated with other themed plans, such as wedding planning or game planning, etc. Patriotic education planning should first start from respecting the martyrs, and not deviate from the facts. Of course, it must include elements that children like, for example: children prefer illustrations with text rather than simply organizing a visit and then explaining or distributing some textual materials like in class, which would not make children actively accept education. Introducing the theme through storytelling is similar to what we previously mentioned about story planning, lively and vivid.

Holding activities: Choose venues preferably in the wild to satisfy children's active and playful nature. Let the children role-play as heroes of that time. And at the end of the activity, reward them with some commemorative items.

The aim of activity planning is to stimulate the enthusiasm of participants. How to mobilize the enthusiasm of people participating in the activity will be explained by Longer in future articles. Of course, practice is key, you can apply many plans to practice, only then can you know where your shortcomings lie.
