The ultimate end result of all of this planning and in-flight entertainment is that we arrived at our destination ready for a nap, the kids happy and rested and ready to go. But in the end, we're in Disney, so it's all worth it!
Nancy is an enthusiastic fan of Disney Parks, a wife of nine years, and a mom of two years. The place where she first visited Disney World was in 2006, and she has returned four times. Nancy wrote:
We spent my son's first trip to Walt Disney World when he was only five months old. If the timing had been up to me, I would not have risked such a long-distance trip with such a small child, but it was a family reunion, and I wasn't responsible for picking the date. Since we live in Southern California, we flew straight to Orlando and back. Having a baby actually worked in our favor. We didn't have to deal with changing planes, which also meant we didn't have to drag our heavy car seat and other baby supplies through terminals trying to catch a connection.

Flying with a baby can be challenging, but I'm grateful that ours didn't cause too much trouble. We kept his feeding and sleeping schedule the same as at home. On the morning of the few days leading up to the flight, he adjusted well to East Coast time. The key to a successful flight for him was ensuring he had enough food and some quiet activities to entertain him. We also walked up and down the aisle a few times so he could look around at everyone. When you walk down the plane aisle, you'll find people giving you looks and saying please move away, but there are also those who give you a look and say: "Oh, please let me talk to your baby!" Those kind souls provided him with good interaction when he was tired of mom and dad.
When we arrived, we rented a car, which was a brand-new experience for us so far. For my four other trips, we exclusively used Disney's Magical Express. For this trip, we stayed off-site, and a car rental was necessary for us. As a new mom, I really enjoyed the luxury of having the car packed up and leaving it at an extra 'baby-friendly' parking lot because we needed it. We haven't had to deal with loading bulky strollers onto trams, which made for a pleasant café-like experience.

My son's second brand-new trip was when he was 18 months old. We again used a direct flight and the Magical Express from the airport. At this age, we still enjoyed the convenience of a direct flight, but any change in planes might be appreciated by the time given to run between flights. The Magic performed well, except for the delay in boarding before our departure from the resort. We sat for a long time. He was tired, restless, and there wasn't much of a playroom. But snacks or distractions helped him, and soon we were on our way. Living far from Orlando, I doubt we would choose any other method for some of our travels. One day I might be crazy enough to attempt a cross-country trip, but not anytime soon! www.wodingche.com news.wodingche.com intercar.wodingche.com
