Many people may have seen in American movies the yellow school buses that look like a cross between a truck and a bus, and on domestic roads, they may have also seen a variety of school buses. However, despite being called school buses, for children, they might mean completely different fates. Data shows that nearly 20,000 middle and primary school students in our country are disabled or killed each year due to traffic accidents, among which injuries and deaths caused by riding unstandardized school buses account for an extremely large proportion. In light of this, the China Care for the Next Generation Working Committee, Ministry of Education, National Administration of Work Safety, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, jointly with the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China Society of Automotive Engineers, and China Automotive Technology and Research Center, will host the "2012 First China School Bus Development Seminar and International School Bus Exhibition" from February 15th to 18th, 2012 in Beijing, which is a first domestically.
Targeting the traffic safety environment for domestic middle and primary school students as well as the current situation of school bus safety, this event will promote the Chinese school bus safety standards, boost the research and development, production, operation, and exchange of domestic and international school buses, and ensure the smooth implementation of school bus procurement, allowing more new technologies and achievements in school buses to be rapidly converted and applied. At the same time, it calls for more attention, concern, and support from the whole society towards the development of Chinese school buses. The 2012 First China School Bus Development Seminar, International School Bus Exhibition, and Traffic Safety Series Product Display activities will be held. A public welfare initiative will be launched to let Chinese children ride green and safe school buses as soon as possible. There will also be events such as certification of dedicated school bus production bases, promotion of dedicated school buses, school bus procurement orders, hope school bus donation ceremonies, love enterprise award ceremonies, traffic safety goodwill ambassador granting ceremonies, and school bus safety image spokesperson granting ceremonies.
It is reported that the China School Bus Development Forum will focus on the theme of "the future path of Chinese school bus development," discussing issues related to international and domestic school bus research and development, production, sales, operation, and management. The exhibition is the only professional and technical exhibition that comprehensively displays and promotes the "school bus safety standard," mainly showcasing various types of school buses, including equipment, facilities, and products related to traffic safety, protection, and rescue.
