Two freshmen from a university in Wuhan have made a simple car that can reach a speed of 90 kilometers per hour.
The picture above shows them testing the car in their campus yesterday. The reporter Zhu Xiyong took the photo.
When freshmen Wang Hui and Sheng Nan drove the machine on the playground of Huazhong Science and Technology University's Wuchang branch at a speed of 35 kilometers per hour, everyone present was sure: this is a car! Except for lacking a shell, reverse gear and comfortable seats, this is indeed a car.
It rained heavily yesterday, but the two boys did not care. A sudden brake and the car stopped immediately, although the car frame shook a little. Wang Hui proudly combed his dripping hair: "See? It's genuine!"
Their original intention to make the car was to have a means of transportation. The Wuchang branch of Huazhong Science and Technology University has a campus of more than 1000 mu (about 66 hectares). It takes more than 20 minutes to walk from the dormitory in the west area to the teaching building in the east area. As early as during the military training for freshmen, Wang Hui, Sheng Nan and several newly acquainted boys planned in the dormitory: "Buy bicycles? That's too old-fashioned" "Why don't we make a car ourselves? That would be really impressive." Everyone chatted casually without taking it seriously.
However, this idea kept circling in Wang Hui's mind. Another freshman with the same idea was Sheng Nan from Shaanxi province. After a few days, the two boys unintentionally chatted about this topic again: "Sheng Nan, why don't we really make a car?" "Good! I was thinking the same thing!" The two agreed immediately.
They acted at once. After a few days, they excitedly ran to an automobile repair shop in Wuchang and spent more than 500 yuan buying a "Jianshe 125" motorcycle engine...
