Car Beauty: Prevention of Car Interior Pollution
Previously, an individual lost their life due to car pollution. This was precisely because the prevention of pollution within the car was not handled properly.
Recently, a reporter visited Wuhan Automobile Beauty School and attended a seminar on new products and technologies for automobile interior care and disinfection. There, through explanations from professionals, the reporter learned that the car cabin is a relatively enclosed space, where various interior decorations, carpets, seats, and dashboards easily harbor dirt and grime. Car interior pollution, aside from harmful gases produced by the base materials inside the car as people generally believe, also includes mold generated over time within the car, as well as smoking, cosmetics, alcohol odors, etc., all of which can cause air pollution inside the car. Additionally, the aging of base materials can also cause a certain degree of pollution. Car owners absolutely cannot be complacent and should not assume that having disinfected their car once means they are worry-free.
Besides frequently cleaning up clutter inside the car, disinfection is also an effective method to ensure clean air inside the car. There are now many methods, including chemical disinfection and ozone disinfection, but these two methods can also have some negative effects. For example, chemical disinfection can easily leave chemical residues, and it also has a certain degree of damage to car components. Chemical disinfectants usually have corrosive and bleaching properties, so caution is needed when using them on car interiors and metal parts. Long-term use of ozone disinfection can cause rubber in the car to age. Moreover, the quality of ozone machines at car decoration and beauty shops varies greatly, and the price for each disinfection also differs significantly.
On that day, the meeting introduced another better disinfection method: photocatalytic disinfection. Its principle involves using titanium dioxide, a photocatalyst, which produces positive and negative electrons upon exposure to light. The positive electron combines with water molecules in the air to produce hydroxyl radicals with oxidizing decomposition capabilities, while the negative electron combines with oxygen in the air to form active oxygen. Both hydroxyl radicals and active oxygen have strong bactericidal capabilities and can decompose common compounds in the car such as formaldehyde, ammonia, and benzene, as well as remove floating bacteria in the car. Titanium dioxide can be fixed in the car with a special resin, so the disinfection effect lasts long, generally maintaining efficacy for about 2 years after one treatment, and it is also cost-effective. At the scene, we saw a government official who had just bought a Fit. He had a photocatalytic disinfection done a few days ago, and this time he came for an air test to see if it was truly effective. Because according to experience, there is usually a certain amount of air pollution in new cars, and most air qualities do not meet standards. We saw only a small crack in the car door, and a long thin tube inserted through the crack to collect the car's air. After about 20 minutes, the tube was pulled out and placed into a reagent bottle. After some time, it was found that the originally colorless solution in the reagent bottle turned light blue, and the comparison paper showed that the content of harmful gases was 0.1, reaching the safety standard.
Tire Cooling Should Not Be Done with Cold Water
In the scorching summer, not only do people suffer deeply, but cars also face challenges. How can we help our beloved cars survive the hot summer and avoid car malfunctions? In daily maintenance, the following points should be prevented:
(1) Preventing overly rich mixtures. Due to high temperatures, gasoline flows easily, and the orifice expands, increasing gasoline flow and making it easy to evaporate, easily leading to overly rich mixtures. Therefore, the orifice should be adjusted smaller, the accelerator device and throttle arm connection position should be adjusted, and the float chamber oil level height should be appropriately reduced to decrease fuel supply.
(2) Preventing vapor lock. In the hot summer, the fuel system of gasoline engines can easily experience vapor lock due to rising temperatures, causing insufficient or even interrupted fuel supply. To prevent vapor lock, asbestos pads can be used to separate the gasoline pump from the exhaust pipe, or wet cloths can be used to wrap around the gasoline pump to cool it down.
(3) Preventing evaporation. Oil and water evaporate faster under high temperatures, so the gas cap must be tightly closed to prevent oil pipe leakage; regularly check the water tank water level, the oil level and height in the crankcase, the brake fluid level in the master brake cylinder, and the density and liquid level in the battery electrolyte, and promptly add and adjust if they do not meet specifications.
Full Protection - Cool Driving Solutions for Summer
Even before May, the sweltering heat of summer has already arrived, and the thought of sitting in a traffic jam on a scorching asphalt road makes one feel unbearably hot. Are you ready with your summer outfits? Your car needs them too! Quickly remove the furry steering wheel cover, give your car a cool summer outfit, and put on sunglasses, fully equipped to face the blazing sun!
Window Tinting
To block out the scorching ultraviolet rays, window tinting is something many car owners consider first. However, if you drive facing directly east in the morning and directly west in the evening, there's no place to hide from the enthusiastic sun! Some women fear getting tanned, so they even tint the front windshield. The front windshield requires higher light transmittance and higher ultraviolet and infrared blocking rates, so the front windshield film holds an irreplaceable position in the world of explosion-proof films and is incomparable to curtains. Additionally, placing a reflective board on the front windshield after parking can maintain "coolness."
Warm Reminder: The installation of explosion-proof films requires specialized tools and dust-free workshops. If the installation environment is dusty, it will inevitably cause dust to adhere between the explosion-proof film and the car window glass, resulting in poor adhesion and partial shadows.
Cushions
In summer, it's easy to sweat, and to prevent wrinkles in clothing on the back, some girls like to add a cushion on their backs. Last year, a type of cushion made from mesh fabric became popular. Placed on the back, it allows smooth airflow and feels very cool, but it poses safety hazards. The cushion creates a gap of about 10 centimeters between the shoulders and the seat, increasing the distance between the head and the headrest to more than 20 centimeters. In case of a traffic accident, especially a rear-end collision, the head will make a rapid whip-like motion, and the fragile neck can easily get injured.
Air Conditioning
For cool driving in summer, the key lies in the air conditioning. When the air conditioning, which has been idle for half a year, is restarted, it's best to perform sterilization and odor removal on the air conditioning system. Long-term disuse of the air conditioning can lead to the growth of fungi and mold, which not only makes the air smell musty but also harms the health of people inside the car. You can go to a repair shop for handling or purchase sterilization and odor removal spray for self-handling.
When using the air conditioning, the replacement of air inside the car exceeds normal levels by 2 to 5 times. The vast majority of people will feel dizzy and tired after staying in such an environment for a few hours, and memory will also decline. When the air conditioning is on inside the car, passengers should not smoke inside the car. If smoking is necessary, adjust the ventilation control of the air conditioning to the "external circulation" position. If the car is parked in an open-air parking lot exposed to the sun, all windows should be opened first, and external circulation started to expel the hot air. Once the temperature inside the car drops, close the windows and turn on the air conditioning.
If the vehicle is stationary while using the air conditioner, the danger is greater. This is because the air conditioner works by drawing carbon monoxide gas emitted by the engine into the car, and at the same time, the occupants exhale large amounts of carbon dioxide, causing a sharp reduction in oxygen in the car. After a few hours, it can cause nausea, unconsciousness, and even suffocation and death in severe cases.
