Principles and Precautions of Car Polishing in Car Beauty

After the car surface is sprayed, there may be fine defects on the paint film surface such as coarse particles, sandpaper marks, flow marks, reverse white, orange peel, etc. In order to compensate for these defects, grinding and polishing treatment are usually carried out after spraying to improve the mirror effect of the paint film and meet the requirements of brightness, smoothness, and brilliance. The steps of grinding and polishing are as follows:

1. Clean the whole vehicle. Use a strong cleaning agent to clean the entire vehicle. When using the cleaner, avoid causing new scratches due to particle dust during grinding.

2. Water sandpaper grinding. For defects such as coarse particles, fine sandpaper marks, and flow marks on the coating, use 600#~1000# water sandpaper with water wrapped in a small rubber pad and grind it gently until it is flat (note not to grind through the paint layer).

3. Coarse and fine grinding. Use a machine grinder (electric or pneumatic) with coarse grinding paste to rough grind the water sandpaper marks; then polish and fine grind with polishing paste.

4. Polishing. Use a mechanical polisher with a mirror finish treatment agent to remove the swirl marks left by the coarse grinding paste, achieving a mirror-polished effect on the paint film.

5. Manual glazing. After grinding and polishing, wipe off the grinding and polishing paste, immediately use cotton yarn dipped in wax polish to wipe the entire polished area, and then use dry cotton yarn to wipe off excess glazing wax, making the paint surface bright like a mirror and dazzling.

Many people often investigate the pros and cons of car beauty polishing. In fact, waxing and sealing themselves will not cause damage to the car paint but can better protect the car paint. However, the impression given to car owners mainly stems from many irresponsible car beauty shops. In order to let car owners see the direct and fresh results of car paint, they frequently polish and grind the car paint during the waxing and sealing process, which naturally makes the car paint thinner and even has the possibility of being polished through. For this reason, experts remind that the number of times a car should be polished in its "lifetime" should not exceed 5 times.

Although polishing will make the car paint thinner, it does not mean that the car paint cannot be polished at all. A small amount of polishing is something the car paint can bear. Polishing is a method of car paint care used to remove oxidized paint surfaces and various foreign objects on the body, eliminate fine scratches on the paint surface, deal with minor damages on the car paint surface, and handle various spots. After 3 to 4 years of use, a car's paint inevitably becomes dull after exposure to wind, rain, and sun. After using the polishing method, the car paint can quickly look brand new, appearing as shiny as a new car. Therefore, in the process of car paint maintenance such as waxing, sealing, and plating, the polishing process is often used, but it must be noted that the number of times should not be excessive. Additionally, the number of times certain Japanese models' paint surfaces can be polished must be controlled.
