Chengdu, located in the central part of Sichuan Province, China, is the capital city of Sichuan Province, one of the sub-provincial cities in China, and the political, economic, and cultural center of Sichuan Province. It is a city with separate state planning for economic and social development and also a national historical and cultural city.
Chengdu is a central city in the southwestern region of China. In ancient times, Chengdu was the land of Shu Kingdom. During the Qin Dynasty, Ba and Shu were annexed to form the Shu Commandery and a city was built. In the Han Dynasty, due to the prosperity of the brocade weaving industry, a special brocade official was appointed to manage it, hence the name "City of Brocade". During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, hibiscus flowers were planted all over the city, thus earning it the nickname "City of Hibiscus" or simply "Rong".
In 1921, Chengdu was established as a city. In 2008, it was designated by the state as one of China's best tourist cities (the other two being Hangzhou and Dalian).
In 1993, Chengdu was confirmed by the State Council as the science and technology, commerce, and financial center of the southwestern region, as well as a transportation and communication hub. Its economic development level ranks first in western China, and its overall strength is at the top in the west.
In 2007, Chengdu's pilot zone for comprehensive supporting reforms to coordinate urban and rural development was officially approved by the State Council, making it another national comprehensive supporting reform pilot zone after Shanghai Pudong New Area and Tianjin Binhai New Area.
Chengdu has a long history and is known for its美誉 of "Land of Abundance", "Jiangnan of Shu", and "Suzhou-Hangzhou of Shu". According to historical records, around the mid-5th century BC during the ninth reign of the Kaiming Dynasty of the ancient Shu Kingdom, the capital was moved from Guangdu Fanxiang (today's Shuangliu County) to Chengdu, where city walls were constructed. Regarding the origin of the name Chengdu, according to the "Taiping Huanyu Ji", it was borrowed from the historical process of the Western Zhou Dynasty's establishment of its capital, taking the phrase "in the first year the place became a gathering, in the second year it became a town, in the third year it became a capital" to name it Chengdu. During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, Emperor Meng Chang of the Later Shu Dynasty favored hibiscus flowers and ordered the citizens to plant hibiscus trees on the city walls. During the blooming season, Chengdu was covered in "forty miles of brocade", hence it was also called the City of Hibiscus or abbreviated as "Rongcheng". The discovery of the Jinsha Site in 2001 has pushed back Chengdu's city-building history from 311 BC by 300 years, surpassing Suzhou, making it the Chinese city with the longest continuous site.
With the launch of smart in China, test drive events have been gradually held in various cities. At the smart test drive event in Chengdu, we randomly interviewed several consumers who came for the test drive, and Miss Mao shared her feelings after the test drive.
During the smart test drive in Chengdu, three game segments were designed: moving out of the garage, Y-shaped track, acceleration, and avoidance, allowing Chengdu test drivers to fully experience the outstanding performance of smart. Miss Mao said: the gearshift of this small car is very special, with only three gears: forward, stop, and reverse, making the operation so simple that it is surprising. For the first time encountering such a small car and such a gearshift, one might suddenly feel a bit lost.
However, once the car starts and drives off, the driving convenience it brings will quickly make you fall in love with it. The experience of straight-line acceleration is indeed surprising; stepping hard on the accelerator, the engine immediately responds positively, and smart accelerates very quickly.
Miss Mao also told us that she fell in love with Benz smart because this car has already broken through the traditional concept of a means of transportation. It symbolizes more of fashion and individuality. The four-star safety rating makes everyone feel fully secure while driving this lively small car.
