The pharmaceutical supervision department uncovered a batch of "problem oxygen" supplied by an enterprise without a "Pharmaceutical Production Permit" at a hospital in Chenzhou, Hunan. Surprisingly, more than two months ago, the hospital had been ordered to make corrections due to the same issue.
How did the "problem oxygen" enter the hospital wards so brazenly? Please see the report from our journalists.
On April 11th, in a room within the oxygen supply unit at the North Branch of the First People's Hospital of Chenzhou City (also known as the Children's Hospital), 30 oxygen tanks lay quietly. Like the oxygen tanks currently in use in the hospital wards, these tanks also bore steel-stamped and labeledæ—Hui trademarks along with certificates of conformity. The difference was that these oxygen tanks were also marked with a note - "sealed area".
On April 1st, the media reported that the North Branch of the First People's Hospital of Chenzhou City was suspected of passing off industrial oxygen as medical oxygen. On April 2nd, the Chenzhou Municipal Food and Drug Administration dispatched law enforcement officers from its inspection team to investigate the North Branch and take samples for testing the stored medical oxygen at the hospital.
