"Talk a lot to your children, keep talking," some child-rearing experts advise new mothers. This suggestion is indeed based on scientific evidence: previous studies have found that talking more to infants and toddlers helps develop their language skills.

However, the latest research by American scientists has found that engaging children in more 'conversations' is more effective than simply doing more 'talking.' This research was published in the July issue of the American journal Pediatrics.
