Shangqiu News - Yesterday, the Fourth China (Minquan) River Crab Food Festival kicked off. Two male and one female river crabs raised by skilled crab farmer Zhao Weijian, weighing a total of 1.082 kilograms, won first place in the "River Crab Competition." The three crab kings were auctioned on-site for 39,000 yuan.
On the same day, the official launch ceremony of the "China River Crab Hometown - Minquan" postcard was held. Following the opening ceremony, the "River Crab Competition," organized by the Minquan County People's Government, officially began. Many skilled river crab farmers from the county brought their own crabs to participate in the competition.
Through a series of intense competitions including weighing, color observation, and body type evaluation, two male and one female crabs presented by Zhao Weijian from the Longze Lake Aquaculture Farm stood out. Not only were they full of fat and roe, but they also topped the entire field in weight at 1.082 kilograms, with the largest one weighing 9 liang and 7 qian (approximately 485 grams). After an on-site auction, Zhao Weijian's three crabs sold for 39,000 yuan.
"This isn't even the heaviest one, because today's competition isn't just about weight; it's also about color," said skilled crab farmer Zhao Weijian.
It is understood that Minquan is currently the largest pollution-free river crab farming base in our province, with a farming area of 27,000 mu (approximately 18,000 acres) and an annual production of 500 tons of river crabs.
