Hypertrophic scarring is a serious sequela after burn wound healing, mainly due to pathological changes during the healing process of the wound itself. According to statistics, among patients with hypertrophic scars, those under the age of 30 account for 70-80%; people of color and individuals with a predisposition to scarring have a tendency to develop excessive scar proliferation; chemical burns, napalm burns often result in severe scarring; the deeper the burn (deep second-degree wounds and above), the more obvious the scar proliferation; infection of the wound often increases the chances and severity of scar formation; scar contracture and hyperplasia can significantly affect the quality of life of patients.

Burn scars - within 1 to 2 months after scar formation, it is the optimal period for scar repair. During this time, special attention should be paid: do not scratch when itching or pain occurs, and avoid using scar removal creams containing hormones or corrosive agents, as this could cause greater harm.

After being burned, patients will experience different degrees of pigmentation and scar proliferation depending on their age, individual differences, size of the burn area, and depth of the wound. Taking appropriate measures for care can prevent or reduce pigmentation, scar proliferation, and the resulting contracture deformities.

Burn scars are a normal and inevitable physiological response during the natural healing process of wounds or injuries, even from very minor damages (such as insect bites), provided there is no purulent infection. This is also the inevitable result of the wound healing process.
