You were previously concerned about your own future.

My body actually retreated a few steps due to fear, without any restraint, and I turned around to close the door. Outside, there came a wail. Everyone has gone crazy. That man was not Miao Wei but more like a walking corpse. His face, his eyes were like a wolf that had been starving for a long time. Huang Huadong who was clipping his toenails also heard the sound outside and looked at me with suspicion. I didn't want to explain anything and returned to my seat, looking out at the dark sky, feeling that the world was chaotic.

The voices outside soon subsided. Huang Huadong looked at me as if I was a monster, then he opened the dormitory door despite my attempts to stop him. I found sweat on my back and started to feel pain again. The door opened, and there were many people gathered outside. The blood stains on the ground spoke volumes. I forced myself to move towards the door step by step. Several people were seen running away with wounds, while in the middle of the crowd lay someone whose clothes were completely dyed red. It was Miao Wei. Not far away, Yang Jianxiang stood dumbfounded, holding a stool stained with blood, while his ankle was bleeding. However, he seemed to feel no pain, his gaze fixed on Miao Wei.

Huang Huadong pulled Tang Fei from the crowd and asked what happened. Tang Fei, half stupidly, replied, "Miao Wei... he bit whoever he saw, several people got bitten. In panic, Yang Jianxiang hit him with the stool, but the force was too much."

The dorm supervisor and several security guards broke through the crowd, all unable to believe what they saw. There have been two bloody incidents in just a couple of days.

"Hey, there's a bloody incident at Linjiang Garden, come over quickly."

"There are some students going crazy at Dexing Garden, come over quickly."

The security guard's walkie-talkie kept ringing. "...the 110 is busy!!!" The 110 line was so busy, it seemed like the whole world had gone crazy. We students stood there blankly, vaguely sensing something major had happened.

After several failed attempts, the dorm supervisor finally managed to get through to 110 and reported the situation at school. Soon, the police would come to assist. Now, all we could do was treat the wounded and send them to the hospital.

As I sat alone on the balcony gazing at the night sky, I realized how accustomed I had become to living without sunlight. My body ached less frequently now, but the only pain left was in my abdomen, occasionally splitting open-like agony.

I took a gulp of saliva, realizing my mouth was cracked and my stomach growled incessantly. Though I had eaten dinner just half an hour ago and consumed a surprising amount of meat, I was hungry again. I had a strong urge to bite someone, but I knew I couldn't do that. Miao Wei's face kept flashing in my mind, more like a thousand-year-old zombie feeding on humans. I didn't want to become like him because... I thought it wasn't cool.

I aimlessly walked out of the dormitory. Looking back, I saw Cheng Wei and Huang Huadong both on the phone with their families. They didn't notice the abnormality in my eyes. This was the best time for me to act - just one bite to taste human flesh. Just one bite was enough, and saliva was already uncontrollably flowing out.

I slapped myself, hating what I was thinking about, and turned away. On my way out, I met Tang Fei, who assumed I was going to buy food and kept encouraging me to treat guests. Ignoring him, I continued walking. I passed Jindi Garden, the supermarket, missed the cafeteria, and ended up at Building Six, lost in thoughts about my future, seeing only a bleak path ahead.

When I reached Building Six, I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine. The gate was closed and locked with an iron chain. Through the glass, I could see people pacing inside, but something felt off.

Tang Fei explained, "Building Six is now used to detain those who bite others. But it seems that those who are delirious are also thrown out."

"What about the original residents of Building Six?" I asked.

"They've been relocated to the school guesthouse," Tang Fei replied.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I approached the glass door of Building Six to take a closer look. Due to the warmth inside, the glass was foggy, and I could only vaguely make out a few silhouettes moving around. I pressed closer to the glass for a better view.

Suddenly, a face appeared before me, scaring me into falling onto the ground. My heart raced. The face was so flushed, the eyes bulging, the mouth opening and closing, saliva dripping down the chin onto the glass door.

I took a deep breath, calming down. I thought it was a ghost, but this guy looked almost like one. As I was about to turn away, his face remained glued to the glass, staring straight at me without moving his eyes, and began pounding on the glass.

By the time my heartbeat returned to normal, I leaned against the glass door and said to the man inside, "I know you want to come out, but what you did before was wrong, why bite people? If you hadn't bitten anyone, you wouldn't be confined here, and if you weren't confined here, you wouldn't have the idea of wanting to come out, and if you didn't have that idea, you wouldn't want to break the glass. Wukong, I know you miss your master, but doing this is wrong."

More figures moved towards the door, appearing on the glass, all with similar expressions, staring straight at me and pounding on the glass. Their stares made my skin crawl.

These people were all crazy. I should leave immediately. Tang Fei, who had been chattering non-stop, was clearly also scared and followed me away from Building Six.

Walking a few steps, I stopped and asked Tang Fei, "Are you sure everyone who is delirious or bites others has been detained?"

Tang Fei wasn't sure, "It should be..."

"Then look at the people passing us," I said.

Previously, I hadn't noticed anything unusual while pondering everyone's future, but now I did. Among the people passing by, there were always one or two who looked lifeless, moving forward mechanically like drunkards. Some even exaggeratedly twisted their bodies as they walked, unnoticed by others who seemed numb, paying no attention to these anomalies.

Tang Fei noticed these things too, and his unease was evident on his face. I told Tang Fei, "I think we should go back to the dormitory where it's safer." Tang Fei immediately agreed, and we ran back like wild horses let loose.

Back in the dormitory, which seemed like a haven untouched by the chaos outside, Cheng Wei and Huang Huadong were still on the phone. Out of breath, I flopped onto my bed. Memories of what I'd seen at Building Six haunted me. Their eyes were unnerving, lacking the characteristics of human eyes. Moreover, when they opened their mouths, no warm breath came out, otherwise, the glass would have fogged up more. Could it be... No, it must be my imagination. They're still alive, moving. Anyway, I should sleep first.

A scream pierced the quiet night, accompanied by a low growl like a beast's. I woke up startled. The dormitory lights were already on, and Huang Huadong and Cheng Wei were dressing, apparently ready to investigate what was happening.

Judging by the time, it was nearly midnight. Outside was still pitch black, and we had lost all sense of time. Rushing downstairs, we found chaos. More specifically, three crimson-faced individuals were proudly chasing a large group of people. At the entrance, the dorm supervisor lay in a pool of blood, being torn apart by two creatures. Large chunks of flesh were bitten off, blood spurting from the wounds, splashing onto the glass doors.

Seeing this scene, I was shocked. Were they cannibals? Or worse, zombies from old movies? Tang Fei was also caught up in the chaos. A zombie relentlessly chased him, cornering him. In a flash of inspiration, Tang Fei smashed the nearby fire window, grabbed the extinguisher, and with great strength, smashed it onto the zombie's head, deforming it. The zombie fell to the ground, further confirming my suspicions - no blood came out.

Nearby, two other zombies pounced on two students. The result was predictable; the zombies mercilessly bit down like wild beasts. Surrounding classmates only stayed far away, too afraid to help.

An idea flashed through my mind. If zombies attacked me, I'd probably end up as their meal. I needed a strong person around, at least someone who could handle these zombies. Among those I knew, Xiao Qin was undoubtedly the best choice. She should be at Linjiang Garden, a little distance away. Given the situation here, other places were likely the same. Alone, I couldn't get there. I needed an assistant. Moreover, two zombies were blocking the door, eating the deceased dorm supervisor. I had to find a way out.

I called to Tang Fei and Wan Chufa, "Quickly bring out the fire hydrant and use its powerful water pressure to destroy these zombies. Otherwise, none of us will survive."

Fang Xiaochun also came to help. The two held the hydrant while another turned on the switch. The powerful water pressure shot out, but its recoil was also immense. The two couldn't control it, and the hose wriggled everywhere, unable to aim accurately.

Students hiding far away also came to help. With a large group of people, the hose was finally under control. The powerful water stream sprayed like a dragon towards the surrounding zombies. Zombies were pushed out the door upon contact with the water, clearing the doorway. However, shortly after, chaos ensued again as everyone fled for their lives. The hose was left uncontrolled, and the powerful recoil threw Wan Chufa and Fang Xiaochun to the side. Tang Fei had to shut off the switch, stopping the water flow.

Originally, there were five zombies at the entrance. Two were pushed outside by the water pressure, one was knocked down, and two rushed into the crowd, resulting in two more victims. Wan Chufa and Fang Xiaochun seemed badly injured, Huang Huadong and Cheng Wei escaped far away. Between them and me were those two zombies. Only Tang Fei was near me. I grabbed him and ran out, but he pulled me back, panicking, "Outside doesn't seem safe. Aren't we just rushing to our deaths?"

With firm resolve, I answered, "Staying inside is certain death. Follow me, it's the right choice." Without waiting for his response, I dragged him and ran. Initially reluctant, he eventually followed me.

Outside, the lighting was dim. We could see the two zombies previously pushed out lying against the opposite dormitory building wall. Chaos reigned everywhere, zombies chasing and biting people. However, among them, there were still several zombies wandering on the road, not attacking those fleeing past them. With several loud bangs, a few cars exploded on the roadside. Thick black smoke rose slowly, the massive flames illuminating everything around. Bloodstains were everywhere, corpses scattered. We tried to avoid crowded areas, or perhaps there were fewer fleeing people on the road, so we didn't encounter any zombies chasing us. Passing through Teaching Building Four, our destination was only one: Linjiang Garden.

Just as we exited Teaching Building Four, a sudden gust of wind blew past. Something fell from above and collided strongly with the ground. Turning my head, I saw a horrifying sight that I would never forget. The corpse had turned into a pile of minced meat, limbs completely twisted, blood continuously flowing out.

Looking up, I saw a classroom window wide open. A student lay dead beside the window, while a zombie resembling a teacher figure ferociously tore at the corpse. Glass shards continuously fell. I felt something sticky on my face, warm to the touch. Rubbing it with my hand, I realized it was the dark red liquid - blood.

I knew my time was running out. This place would soon become a land of the undead. Linjiang Garden was roughly a street away, but we had to pass by Building Six, likely facing a group of zombies. Regardless, I had to check it out since it was the nearest route.

What happened to this world? How did such a drastic change occur so suddenly? This didn't seem like a biochemical infection. What could be the reason? It seemed like humanity's days were numbered, yet everything was inexplicable. I urgently needed someone to answer all my questions, but who could possibly know?

Sure enough, the street leading to Building Six was occupied by zombies. On the opposite side of the street was Linjiang Garden. I had a strong premonition that once I found Xiao Qin, I wouldn't have to fear these zombies anymore. Thinking about it, it was funny - a grown man needing a little girl's protection. Well, the world had already gone topsy-turvy. Surviving was what mattered.

Just as I was at a loss, an unexpected situation occurred. A sound akin to a wolf's howl came from perhaps Building Five or Six. Strangely, the zombies hearing this sound all moved towards that direction, leaving only a few wandering aimlessly like headless flies. The difficulty level had significantly decreased.

Tang Fei patted my shoulder and pointed in a direction. I saw a tricycle. This was our only chance to break through the street. No words needed - let's go!
