Recently, Professor W. John Braun, Director of the Graduate Program in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences at the University of Western Ontario in Canada, visited Hainan University and discussed cooperation matters under the accompaniment of Wang Xin from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Hainan Provincial Department of Education. During this time, a seminar was held between Hainan University and the University of Western Ontario (consultation QQ for studying in Canada at UWO: 2644409706). Vice President of Hainan University, Professor Guohua Fu, introduced the basic situation of the university and stated that they highly value exchanges and cooperation with world-renowned universities, strengthening their internal development through international cooperation. He welcomed the visit of the representative from the University of Western Ontario to discuss cooperation matters and hoped that under the joint efforts of both parties, substantive cooperation could be achieved between the two universities. Professor W. John Braun introduced the general situation of the University of Western Ontario and its cooperation with relevant Chinese universities. Subsequently, both parties had an in-depth discussion on the specific content of the 3+1+1 Master's program in Statistics between the two universities and reached a preliminary consensus.

The proposed 3+1+1 Master's program in Statistics stipulates that the University of Western Ontario (QQ group for studying in Canada at UWO: 193566146) will provide third-year students majoring in Statistics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and Information and Computational Science at Hainan University with the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in Statistics. In the fourth year, students will complete their undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario, and Hainan University will accept the credit transfer for courses completed there and issue graduation certificates and degrees to students who meet the conditions. Students who meet the requirements can obtain a Master of Science degree certificate issued by the University of Western Ontario after one year of pursuing graduate courses in Statistics.
