The thief was dressed up as SpongeBob. "SpongeBob" is robbing a store. According to reports by American media on September 8, an absurd robbery took place in San Diego, California, where a man dressed as the cartoon character "SpongeBob" and broke into a 7-11 convenience store to rob it. Initially, the cashier thought it was a prank.
San Diego police said that the robbery occurred on the night of the 5th. The on-duty cashier initially thought someone was playing a joke on him. When the man claimed he was carrying a gun and reached inside his costume as if to grab it, the cashier realized the seriousness of the situation. Shortly after, the accomplice waiting outside honked the car horn, urging for a quick escape. At this point, the heavily costumed robber suddenly became very nervous. He snatched some loose change and fled in panic, dropping 27 cents worth of "stolen money" on the floor in the process.
Due to the minimal loss, the cashier did not immediately report the incident to the police. Later, the store manager reviewed the surveillance footage and decided to contact the local authorities. Currently, the police are offering a $1000 reward for information leading to clues about the case.
