According to the Xinhua News Agency (reporter Wang Qiushi) A 50-year-old manager of an auto repair company surnamed Liu, impersonating a Ministry of Public Security staff member, defrauded over a million yuan under the pretext of helping people with errands. It was reported yesterday that Liu was tried in the Haidian court on charges of fraud.
The indictment shows that Liu, who is 50 and has a high school education, was originally the manager of Beijing Shengbaolonghang Auto Repair Co., Ltd. The prosecution charged that last year, he colluded with the female defendant Hu Mou to impersonate Ministry of Public Security staff members and, under the pretext of helping with errands, defrauded the victim Guan Mou of 190,000 yuan in Haidian and other places; and under the pretext of helping to enroll in a military academy, defrauded the victim Wang Mou of 530,000 yuan. In addition, the defendant Liu also separately defrauded the victim Wang Mou of 353,000 yuan under the pretext of buying welfare housing and helping with errands.
In court, Liu raised objections to the charges, saying that he had been helping with the matter of enrolling in a military academy, and was still in contact with relevant personnel from the military academy until his arrest.
It was reported that the victims of Liu and Hu's fraud were all friends introduced by Hu.
The verdict for this case was not announced in court.
