After hours of rescue, Liu Gang was finally wheeled out of the operating room yesterday evening and has awakened.

The Southern Daily reports (Intern reporter/Huang Shaohong, Reporter/Fang Zhenbin) that yesterday, Yang Tinghui, who had worked hard for half a year at the Chang'an Jinsha Farmers' Apartment construction site and was preparing to return home for the New Year, along with a group of workers, found the owner of apartment 309, Li Weiming, requesting the return of the withheld construction payment. Unexpectedly, not only did they fail to retrieve their salaries, but it also led to a bloody disaster. Yang Tinghui and two other workers were injured by Li Weiming and his associates, with one person sustaining serious injuries.

As of the reporter's last update last night, the Chang'an police station has accepted the case, made relevant records for the victims, and obtained the injury reports from the hospital. Regarding whether the event will be investigated as a criminal case, the investigating officer stated that it depends on the severity of the victim's injuries, and a decision can only be made after the investigation is completed.

When negotiations failed, the owner wielded a knife and chased after the workers.

At the time of the incident, Ms. Liu, who lives near the apartment, was eating lunch outside the shed and witnessed the construction team being attacked. "Initially, both sides argued about the salary issue for a few sentences, then unexpectedly, the owner side took out knives and started chasing the workers," Ms. Liu pointed at the still visible bloodstains on the ground and told the reporter that the entire chase lasted several minutes. Subsequently, Li Weiming and others fled the scene in two private cars.

When asked if he would bear responsibilities including the medical fees of the victims, Li Weiming responded, "Not currently prepared."

"The other party said if they didn't settle this debt with us, we wouldn't agree, so they chased and cut us." Yang Tinghui said that upon returning, they discovered Li Weiming and another owner of the apartment—Li Weiming's nephew—waiting for them. Before their request for non-repayment was rejected, Li Weiming and six others took out pre-prepared machetes and wildly chased and slashed Yang Tinghui and his companions.

Yesterday afternoon at 2:30 PM, after receiving treatment for external injuries, Yang Tinghui and Liang Yong were admitted to Ward 7 on the 6th floor of the Chang'an People's Hospital, while at this moment, another worker, Liu Gang, was seriously injured and still undergoing emergency surgery in the operating room. Recalling the experience two hours ago, the two were still shaken.

Since October last year, the construction team where Yang Tinghui was located successively contracted the construction projects of 16 buildings of Jinsha Farmers' Apartments. Among them, Building 309, where Li Weiming was located, was completed and handed over in April this year, but Li Weiming still owed the construction team nearly 300,000 yuan in project funds.

Last night, the reporter called the owner, Li Weiming. Li Weiming admitted to the injuring incident but was unwilling to comment on why he injured people and how he planned to handle the matter subsequently, evading direct answers. He repeatedly stated that he hadn’t been to the hospital, wasn’t aware of the specific conditions of the victims, and needed to understand the situation clearly before making any decisions.

The reporter learned that in this injuring incident, three people were injured. Among them, Liu Gang was the most severely injured, with one slash each on his head and arm, and two slashes each on his back and right leg, requiring admission to the intensive care unit. Yang Tinghui’s head was broken by a brick thrown by Li Weiming, and a piece of the pulp of his right little finger was cut off. Liang Yong’s buttocks received a slash wound, necessitating hospitalization.

Around 10 o'clock yesterday morning, Yang Tinghui and several other workers went to Apartment 309 of the Jinsha Farmers' Apartments to find Li Weiming, demanding that he pay the remaining construction costs. Li Weiming asked them to go back first and return to the apartment at 4 PM that day with their account books for reconciliation. However, around noon at 12 o'clock, Li Weiming suddenly changed his mind and requested that Yang Tinghui and others immediately proceed to the apartment for negotiation.
