Recently, some students from the South Campus of Guangdong Technical Normal University reported to our newspaper that there were two classrooms hidden in their Building No. 8 dormitory, with no barriers between the classrooms and the dormitories. Most female students who come for classes can only use the only male shared toilet in the building, making everyone "very embarrassed"!
Very accessible: No barriers between classrooms and dormitories
The reporter of Express came to Building No. 8 of Guangdong Technical Normal University student dormitories as mentioned by the tipster. There is a classroom on the second and third floors of the dormitory that can accommodate about 80 people. It is known that these two classrooms have existed for a long time, and many students said they have been there since school started. Although the classrooms are at the end of the dormitory, there is no closed door or wall separating them from the male dormitory. They are only separated by a wall from the nearest dormitory, and students coming for classes can only reach the classroom through the only staircase in the dormitory building.
It was learned that from Monday to Friday, there are basically students attending classes in these two classrooms every day. The earliest class starts at 8 am, and the latest ends at 9:30 pm, seriously affecting the rest of students in nearby dormitories. "Sometimes when we play songs on our computers, it affects the classes in the classrooms, and when students come for classes, it also affects our rest, which is not good for both sides," a student in the dormitory building helplessly said.
And because of the name of attending classes, even though there are dormitory management personnel downstairs, female students from the school can still enter and exit the dormitory building freely, making the male students in the building feel very inconvenient. "Especially in summer, many male students like to be shirtless. During the break, when they suddenly walk out of the dormitory door and bump into female students, it is particularly inconvenient. Very embarrassing: Encounter female classmates in the toilet
This dormitory building is an old building constructed many years ago. There are no independent bathrooms in each dormitory room. More than 100 male students on one floor can only go to the public toilets on both sides of the dormitory, and this problem also troubles the male students on the second and third floors! When female students come to Building No. 8 dormitory for classes, if they want to go to the bathroom, they can only share the same toilet with male students.
The reporter saw that neither side of the public toilets had installed doors, allowing everyone free access. "You see that this toilet has urinals. Sometimes some male students take shortcuts and urinate here. If a female student suddenly comes in, it is really embarrassing!" Liu, a student from the school, told the reporter that he himself had encountered a female student leaving the toilet, which was quite awkward. Not only that, the public bathing halls on each floor of the dormitory building also did not have installed doors, allowing free entry and exit. Regarding the issues reflected by the students, the reporter found the teachers in the school's general affairs office, who repeatedly stated, "These are all historical legacy issues!" A male teacher from the school's general affairs office told the reporter that the classrooms in this dormitory building already existed when the building was constructed. Over the years, due to insufficient resources in the campus, the entire campus only had one teaching building, far from meeting the needs of nearly 2000 students in the campus. Therefore, the two classrooms hidden in the dormitory building could only be used as the main classrooms.
Regarding the issue of men and women sharing a toilet, the responsible person said that the school had already arranged for an engineering team to renovate the toilet. "We will separate the original toilet and build male and female toilets, but this won't be done in a day or two. We need to wait for the engineering team to come." Regarding the issue of no barriers between the dormitory building and the classroom, he said that a gate would be added between the two as a barrier. This responsible person also mentioned that the college had planned to move the entire South Campus next year. "Next year, we will move, and this campus will no longer be used.
