DoNews, March 1 — According to the recently jointly issued "Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Lottery Administration Regulations" by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the General Administration of Sport, starting from March 1, "welfare lotteries and sports lotteries sold without the authorization of lottery issuing agencies or lottery selling agencies" will be classified as "illegal lotteries."
It is understood that Taobao has a lottery channel responsible for online lottery sales. According to relevant personnel at Taobao, the lottery channel is composed of various local lottery centers, providing online lottery sales across the country. All sold lotteries are directly operated and managed by each local lottery center, and Taobao does not participate in any part of the lottery sales process.
According to reports, on the evening of February 29, local sports lottery centers received notifications from their superiors requiring the suspension of all online lottery sales. After receiving the notification, four provincial sports lottery management centers, including Shandong and Beijing, posted announcements on Taobao stating that they would suspend certain lottery game sales starting from the evening of February 29.
A relevant person in charge of Taobao stated that Taobao has already suspended part of its lottery agency purchase business and will actively cooperate with local lottery centers in handling matters related to the suspension of sales. (End)

For group-buying orders of Competitive Football, Competitive Basketball, Single Match Football, and Seven-Star Lottery, the deadline will be moved forward to 22:20 on February 29, 2012.
