Huber Engineered Materials, a division of J.M. Huber Corporation, announced plans to expand the capacity for silicas at its manufacturing plant in Jhagadia, India. The expansion will double the plant's capacity to 33,000 metric tons per year. The Jhagadia plant manufactures precipitated silicas and silicates for applications in toothpaste, coatings and paper, among others. This additional capacity will serve growing demand for these applications in India and surrounding regions, and is expected to be on line early in 2012. "We are excited by this capacity expansion and pleased to have the opportunity to meet our customers' growing needs," said Chuck Herak, Vice President and General Manager of Huber Silicas. "With the successful start-up of our newest silica plant in Qingdao, China, we can now focus on this new project in India."
